SPRING BUS TRIP

It’s official. We’ve booked enough seats to cover
the cost of the bus, but we need to fill it if we are to
raise enough money for our Mature Woman
Grants. Please come if you can — and bring your
spouse or a friend or two. Monday, April 29th,
promises to be a great day. We’ll travel first to the
Brandywine Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, PA
and go on to the Hagley Museum outside
Wilmington, DE after lunch.

Nestled in the Brandywine River Valley among
rolling hills, the Brandywine Museum is
renowned for its collection of the Wyeth family of
artists, with three special galleries devoted to three
generations — N. C., Andrew, and Jaime Wyeth.
The museum also offers a cross-section of
nineteenth and twentieth century American art,
emphasizing regional artists. Special exhibits
during the visit include a collection of Andrew
Wyeth’s botanic works, “Every Leaf and Twig”
and “Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled”, a group of his
darker work.

Further along the Brandywine River, the 235-acre
Hagley Museum complex is located on the site of
the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in
1802. Our two-hour guided tour includes the
original du Pont family home, the gardens, the
barn, restored mills, the gunpowder factory, and
nineteenth century worker’s homes. The new

“Nation of Inventors” exhibit celebrates the
“American spirit of ingenuity.”
You may bring your own lunch and eat indoors or
out at the Brandywine Museum or sign up for prepaid lunch options at their Café.

The bus leaves Easton at 8:00 AM and returns around 5:30 PM.
The tour cost of $105 covers the bus, driver’s tip,
and admission to both museums.
